{"id":7079,"date":"2015-01-30T02:06:31","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T02:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/?p=7079"},"modified":"2015-01-30T02:06:31","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T02:06:31","slug":"divided-planning-commission-punts-waianae-development-plan-to-city-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/environment-hawaii.org\/?p=7079","title":{"rendered":"Divided Planning Commission Punts Wai`anae Development Plan to City Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Posted<\/strong> <b>5\/24\/2011<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Because members could not agree on proposed amendments to the Wai`anae Sustainable Communities Plan, the Honolulu Planning Commission decided on May 16 to forward a draft plan, prepared by the city Department of Planning and Permitting, to the City Council without any recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>After hearing two days of public testimony that dealt mainly with whether or not the plan should include a new industrial zone on agricultural lands to accommodate a 96-acre proposed light industrial park in Nanakuli, only two of the six commissioners present at the May meeting (Beadie Dawson and Gayle Pingree) opposed the zone\u2019s inclusion in the plan.<\/p>\n<p>Had at least six commissioners opposed any of the Planning Department\u2019s proposed amendments, a two-thirds vote by the City Council would have been required to approve them.
