{"id":3524,"date":"2014-10-29T00:41:27","date_gmt":"2014-10-29T00:41:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teresadawson.wordpress.com\/?p=2745"},"modified":"2014-10-29T00:41:27","modified_gmt":"2014-10-29T00:41:27","slug":"highlights-of-proposed-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/environment-hawaii.org\/?p=3524","title":{"rendered":"Highlights of Proposed Settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a short list of elements contained in the proposed settlement between Bishop Estate and Kaiser, on the one hand, and the City and County of Honolulu on the other:<\/p>\n<p>At Golf Course 5 and 6:<\/p>\n<p>This 30-acre area is turned over to the city, to be used for park purposes.<\/p>\n<p>At Queen&#8217;s Beach:<\/p>\n<p>A golf course, with club house, restaurant, and pro shop, is planned for this area, straddling the state-owned road to Makapu`u Head which bisects it.<\/p>\n<p>At Golf Course 2\/1A:<\/p>\n<p>A 150-room hotel, a business park, and up to 45 residences are planned to be built on about 50 acres here.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in East O`ahu:<\/p>\n<p>Over the next 20 years, Bishop Estate and Kaiser will have the right to develop any and all of the following projects:<\/p>\n<p>* Six and a half acres of commercial development extending from the Marina opposite Maunalua Bay Beach Park along Keahole Street, running between Keahole Street and the lagoon);<\/p>\n<p>* 176 apartment units at the base of Kalama Valley, fronting Hawai`i Kai Drive;<\/p>\n<p>* 510 apartments at Kamilonui 1 (along Hawai`i Kai Drive);<\/p>\n<p>* A mix of 364 single-family houses and townhouses at Kamilonui 2 (extending above Kamilonui Valley, to the 300-foot contour).
